"Everyone loves beauty, and many people, after bringing plants home from a flower shop, immediately think of replacing them with a more aesthetically pleasing pot. However, little do they know, this action might make the delicate 'orchid' unable to adapt, leading to bud drop, leaf loss, and other issues. So, for beginners, how should they choose a pot? Is it okay to change it?

In fact, it’s not recommended to replace an orchid's original pot because when the orchid moves to a new home, it needs some time to adjust. If you repot it during this period, it may struggle to adapt. If you are determined to change it, I would highly recommend using plastic, ceramic, or glass pots.

Let’s talk about the most common mistake people make: the 'size issue.' You don’t need to choose a pot that’s too large. A pot that’s 1-2 cm wider than the orchid’s original pot is just perfect (about the width of one finger).

Now, let’s go over the common types of orchid pots. The first one is the plastic pot, which is highly recommended for beginners. The advantages are clear: it’s lightweight and durable, making it easy to move around. It’s also inexpensive, usually priced between 5-15 RMB. A slightly better version, such as one with ventilation holes or a more aesthetically pleasing frosted plastic pot, will cost around 20-30 RMB. Moreover, the transparent ones have the added benefit of allowing you to see the root system, helping you determine if the roots are rotting or when it's time to water.

The second option is a ceramic pot, which is the second most popular choice after plastic pots. Ceramic pots have excellent breathability, helping the growing medium dry out quickly and preventing root suffocation. They also look good on balconies or windowsills and have an artistic vibe. However, the downside is that they are heavy and fragile. A basic plain ceramic pot costs around 20-40 RMB, while more decorative ones with hand-carved patterns or special shapes can cost 50-100 RMB.

The third option is a glass pot, which is more decorative than practical. Glass pots are visually appealing, transparent, and add a touch of elegance to the living room. However, they have poor ventilation, and the moisture doesn’t evaporate easily after watering, making them prone to root rot, especially for beginners. A regular glass pot costs around 30-60 RMB, while more uniquely shaped ones can range from 80-150 RMB."
