How to Make Strawberries Bear Fruit Four Times a Year

Today, I'll teach you how to achieve strawberry self-sufficiency and easily get strawberries to bear fruit four times a year!
I. Choose the Right Varieties
Recommended everbearing varieties: Short-day neutral varieties like Four Seasons Cream Strawberry, Monterey, and San Andreas. These are not restricted by daylight hours and can flower and fruit multiple times in environments between 12–28°C.
Key precautions:
Everbearing ≠ year-round high yield. Yields may drop by 30% when summer temperatures exceed 30°C—take cooling measures.
Artificial heat preservation is needed when winter temperatures drop below 8°C; otherwise, plants are prone to frost damage, affecting fruiting rates.
II. Maintenance Methods
Temperature
Spring/Autumn: Natural temperatures of 15–25°C are ideal—no special management needed.
Summer: Cool the plants using shade nets and misting systems, keeping temperatures below 30°C to prevent high-temperature-induced flower bud abortion.
Winter: Greenhouse planting is essential for heat preservation! Use fuel hot air blowers or floor heating to maintain room temperatures ≥15°C. When watering, 优先 (preferably) use 15–20°C warm water to avoid shocking roots with cold water.
Light
Ensure 6–8 hours of daily sunlight. Supplement with 4–6 hours of light (full-spectrum LED lights are best) on cloudy/rainy days or in winter.
Use shade nets to block 50% of strong midday sunlight in summer, preventing leaf edge scorching and fruit sunburn.
Soil
Slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5) is optimal—test with a pH strip. A recommended mix: 4 parts leaf mold, 3 parts garden soil, 2 parts perlite, and 1 part decomposed sheep manure. This blend is loose, breathable, and nutrient-retaining.
Fertilization
Growth period: Apply diluted cake fertilizer water (nitrogen-rich) once a month to promote stem and leaf growth.
Pre-flowering critical period: Spray 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate 1–2 weeks in advance, once weekly.
Watering
Follow the "dry-wet" principle: water in the morning/evening in summer, and every 3–5 days in winter. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
Pruning
Keep 6–8 healthy leaves per plant; promptly remove old or diseased leaves to reduce nutrient loss.
Thin out 20% of late or weak flower buds, prioritizing early blooms for larger, sweeter fruits.
Immediately cut off excessive stolons to prevent nutrient diversion.
III. Key Considerations
For potted strawberries, choose pots with a diameter of 20 cm or more to ensure root 舒展 (room to spread).
Rotate pots regularly for even light exposure and avoid "歪头果" (lopsided fruits).
Apply post-harvest fertilizer promptly to prepare for the next fruiting cycle!
