Afraid of the "snap" sound when growing Phalaenopsis? Whether it's a broken flower spike or a snapped main stem, don't throw it away directly! Follow these steps to rescue it, and there's a high chance of saving it or even making it bloom again. Essential tips for beginners.

Flower spike broken? Simple fixation can continue flowering

If only the flower spike is broken without damaging the main stem:

Gently prop up the broken part with a bamboo stick or wooden stick, and use transparent tape to spiral-wrap and fix it (don't tie it too tightly). Place it in scattered light and water less. Some plants can continue to bloom, and new side buds may emerge below the break!

Don't panic if the main stem is broken! Remember these 3 rescue steps

1. Pruning and disinfection: The break must be "debrided"

Use disinfected scissors to cut off the necrotic tissue at the break until the cut shows healthy parts. Apply plant wound healing agent, then soak the whole plant in carbendazim solution for 30 minutes (leaf wounds should be soaked thoroughly). Take it out and dry it for 2 hours.

2. 3 root-inducing methods! Choose the right one according to the environment

Hydroponic method (suitable for intact roots)

After the break is dry, insert it upside down into water, with the water level reaching 1/3 of the leaves. When changing water every week, air the leaves for 3-4 hours, add 2 drops of vitality element, and place it in a well-ventilated and cool place above 15℃, waiting quietly for rooting.

Air root-inducing method (choose this for high temperature and high humidity environment)

After soaking in the agent, put it directly into a plastic box. No need to spray water when the humidity is high. Keep the environment ventilated, and gradually increase the humidity after the roots start to germinate to avoid rotting due to stuffiness.

Water-adjacent method (choose this if you're afraid of root rot)

Invert the plant and place the roots close to the water surface (the water level is slightly lower than the roots). Stimulate rooting by water vapor, don't soak the roots directly! Suitable for rescuing seedlings in dry areas.

Key tips: Small details to improve survival rate

The higher the stem break position and the more buds retained, the greater the probability of side branch germination.

It can be saved even if all roots are rotten! Insert 1/3 of the leaf into water upside down, which may induce aerial roots.

Maintain a temperature difference of more than 10℃ after side branches germinate to avoid excessive growth and weakness.

When the environmental humidity is less than 30%, soak the plant regularly to replenish water, and carry out normal maintenance after the roots recover.
