With the improvement of living standards, many people enjoy keeping a few pots of plants at home to enrich their living environment. Green plants not only purify the air but also cultivate a sense of calm and well-being. When visiting a flower market, people often prefer varieties that are beautiful, produce many blossoms, and have long flowering periods. The following introduces several kinds of “lantern flowers.” They are not only beautiful, but also produce abundant blossoms over extended blooming seasons, and are considered especially cheerful and auspicious.

Fuchsia
Fuchsia, also known as “Chinese Lantern,” “Hanging Bell Begonia,” or “Lantern Flower,” resembles clusters of small lanterns—delightfully pretty. A mature plant can bloom continuously from April in spring until December in autumn, producing dozens of bright, colorful flowers. When fuchsias are in full bloom, they are often regarded as symbols of joy and good fortune, hence the saying that their blossoms herald happiness.

Care tips: Fuchsias prefer cool, humid conditions. The ideal temperature range is between 10°C and 28°C. When temperatures drop below 10°C or rise above 30°C, the plant will enter dormancy and its growth will slow or stop. During this period, watering should be minimal and fertilization avoided, as cold stress can cause fertilizer damage.

Kalanchoe Manginii
Kalanchoe manginii, also called “Pearl Chime,” “Red Lantern,” or “Trailing Bell Begonia,” is a member of the kalanchoe family. Its umbrella-shaped clusters of half-enclosed blossoms gradually open into bell-like forms, creating a lively and highly ornamental appearance.

Care tips: Like other kalanchoes, it is disease-resistant, prolific in flowering, and enjoys an extended blooming season. Except for the hottest summer months, it will keep blooming steadily so long as the environment remains below 30°C and above 15°C.

Sandersonia
Sandersonia, also known as “Christmas Lily,” “Christmas Bells,” or “Golden Lantern Lily,” produces flowers that resemble small, delicate palace lanterns. Each blossom is about the size of a thumb, typically in shades of orange-yellow or reddish-purple. Its flowering season falls in winter to early spring, making it especially suitable for cultivation in southern regions.

Care tips: It should be placed where it can receive ample sunlight while avoiding harsh direct rays. Sandersonia thrives in moist conditions, and with temperatures around 15°C to 25°C, it will flower beautifully.
