Today, I'd like to introduce an amazing Phalaenopsis variety - Phalaenopsis 'First Love'.
Phalaenopsis 'First Love' is a medium-sized flower. Its petals are vividly red, and there are faint purple stripes on them, giving off a hazy and dreamy feeling, which makes people can't help but stare at it.
Although Phalaenopsis 'First Love' is not a summer flower in the strict sense, it is not delicate at all! As long as the temperature is maintained between 15°C and 30°C, it can produce beautiful flower spikes throughout the year. The single flower can last for 2 to 3 months, and the whole plant's ornamental period can last for 4 to 6 months! It blooms from early summer to late autumn. Whether it is placed in the living room, on the desk, or given as a gift, it is super suitable, and its appearance and temperament are truly top-notch!
Many people think that Phalaenopsis 'First Love' is difficult to grow, but in fact, it's not difficult at all if you find the right method!
Watering: Follow the dry-wet cycle and it's better to keep it on the dry side. Use the pot soaking method. Find a large pot and pour water about 5 cm deep, put the flower pot in and soak it for 10 minutes. Take it out and drain it after the planting medium has absorbed enough water. Water once a week in spring and autumn, once every 3 to 4 days in summer, and about once every 10 days in winter. Attention! Don't water the center of the leaves, as it is likely to cause rot!
Light: Place it by the south-facing windowsill with a sheer curtain, or on the east or west balcony. It is sufficient to expose it to diffused light for 2 to 3 hours every day. Direct exposure to the sun will make the edges of the petals turn brown, and if it's too shady, it won't bloom.
Temperature: Move it indoors when the temperature is below 15°C. Keep it away from the air outlet in an air-conditioned room. When the temperature exceeds 32°C in summer, open the window for ventilation, otherwise, the roots are likely to get stuffy.
Fertilization: Use Flower多多No. 2 before the flowering period and dilute it into a 1000-fold solution, and water it once a week. After the flowers wither, switch to Flower多多No. 1 to supplement nitrogen fertilizer to help it rebloom!
Precautions:
1. Phalaenopsis has aerial roots. Use a mixture of bark, sphagnum moss, and ceramsite as the planting medium to ensure good air permeability and prevent root rot!
2. Don't move it during the flowering period or just after bringing it home. Repot it after the flowers wither, otherwise, the flower buds are likely to wither!
3. If you want to increase the humidity, you can place a basin of water around the flower pot, but don't spray the petals directly, as it will cause spots and rot!
Tips: After the flowers wither, cut the flower spike 2 to 3 nodes up from the bottom, and supplement fertilizer, and new flower spikes will emerge soon.
Is Phalaenopsis 'First Love' easy to grow?
