Is *Phalaenopsis* Golden Beauty a large-flowered variety?

Today, I'd like to share a fairy-like Phalaenopsis variety with you – Golden Beauty!

As a rare large-petaled Phalaenopsis in the yellow color series, Golden Beauty features petals with a velvet-like texture. Its bright yellow petals wrap around a playful red lip, creating a gorgeous and eye-catching flower color, with a grand and elegant flower shape that offers high ornamental value. Placing it at home instantly enhances the ambiance. The best part is its超长待机 (super-long standby) blooming period! With normal care, a single flower can bloom for 2-3 months, and the entire plant's blooming period lasts 4-6 months, making its cost-performance ratio off the charts!

Many novice plant lovers worry that Phalaenopsis are difficult to care for in summer, but Golden Beauty is actually hardier than expected! However, in the high-temperature and high-humidity summer, if you place it on a balcony, pay special attention to these points:

**Lighting**: Direct sunlight on the balcony is too intense and can burn the petals. It is recommended to hang sheer curtains or place it on an east-facing/north-facing balcony, allowing 3-4 hours of diffused light daily to avoid midday sun暴晒 (direct sunlight).

**Ventilation**: The balcony must be kept well-ventilated. You can use a small fan to help control the temperature below 25°C, as temperatures exceeding 30°C can easily cause the plant to go dormant.

**Watering**: Although water evaporates quickly in summer, do not water frequently! Water only when the sphagnum moss feels dry and the pot becomes lighter. Slowly water thoroughly along the edge of the pot, preferably in the early morning or evening, to avoid root suffocation.

**Fertilizing**: During the blooming period, you can apply a specialized orchid liquid fertilizer once a month, diluting it 1000 times and watering it in. Reduce the dosage appropriately during high-temperature summer periods.

**Precautions**:
- **Avoid frequent moving**: Phalaenopsis are sensitive to environmental changes, and frequent relocation can cause bud drop. Try to leave it in a fixed position once placed.
- **Pest and disease prevention**: Summer is prone to pests. Regularly check the undersides of leaves. If spider mites are found, wipe them with water; in severe cases, spray with flower protection agents.
- **Post-blooming care**: After the flowers wither, cut the flower stem 2-3 nodes above the base to retain nutrients, and it may rebloom under suitable conditions.

In summary, Golden Beauty belongs to the medium-flower type variety, with thicker roots than other Phalaenopsis, making it highly successful for novices to grow. Give it a try!
