Today, I'd like to introduce a kind of scallion whose flowers are as big as those of ordinary flowers. Its name is Allium giganteum. Its flower shape is round, and its colors are mostly green, purple and white. Compared with common flowers, its large flower balls look particularly gorgeous, because it is a large purple flower ball composed of countless small flowers.
Hearing its name, people may think that Allium giganteum has something to do with the scallions we eat every day. In fact, it is native to the Netherlands and is a bulbous plant of the genus Allium in the Amaryllidaceae family. It is not edible, but it also has a bit of the smell of scallions, so many people mistakenly think that it is also a kind of scallion. After reading this, do you also have the urge to buy a pot and take care of it? In fact, it is relatively easy to take care of Allium giganteum. In terms of soil, it is recommended to use some loose and breathable sandy loam and add some humus soil. The soil prepared in this way can be both loose and able to retain the nutrients needed by the plant.
In daily care, Allium giganteum prefers a temperature between 15 °C and 25 °C. It likes to be close to the sun, so it's advisable to let it bask in the sun more. It's best to let it receive sunlight all day long. Doing so can make its rhizomes stronger and its immunity better. Meanwhile, sufficient sunlight is also beneficial for its flowering and makes the flower balls rounder, bigger and more gorgeous. In winter, there is no need to take many cold-proof measures for it, as it prefers a cool environment. However, in summer, because the temperature is too high, if it is planted in the ground, most of it will probably wither and die. At this time, the underground bulbs should be dug out and stored in a ventilated place.
Doing a good job in fertilizing and watering can make Allium giganteum bloom more beautifully. In terms of care, generally speaking, it is necessary to fertilize it once every two to three weeks. It is recommended to use thin liquid fertilizer and then cooperate with watering to dilute it. In hot summer or when the air is relatively dry, you can relieve the surrounding air and increase the humidity by shading or using a spray. When it rains a lot, the accumulated water under the flowerpots should be poured out in time to avoid bulb rot caused by waterlogging.
Finally, it's not too difficult to take care of Allium giganteum. As long as you follow the suggestions above, give it regular fertilization, watering and sunlight, and keep it at a suitable temperature, the plant will surely bloom the most beautiful flowers for you.
