Campsis (Trumpet Vine)
Campsis is a climbing flower that typically blooms from May to September. It’s a very vigorous climber, and during this period, its dense flowers cover the branches, bringing a cool breeze to the hot summer days. The flowers come in various colors, including white, pink, yellow, and orange.
Care Tips: It enjoys plenty of sunlight but can’t tolerate direct, intense sunlight, so it should be placed in a location with indirect light. In terms of climate, it’s cold-hardy and drought-tolerant, surviving temperatures as low as -30°C. It likes water, and the soil should remain consistently moist. However, during the non-growing season (from May to August), water should be reduced appropriately.
Wisteria
Wisteria flowers are commonly a dreamy shade of light purple, and when they bloom, they form a sea of purple flowers that mesmerize everyone.
Care Tips: Wisteria grows quickly by tying or training its stems to a trellis, wall, or arbor. In addition to its rapid growth, it’s also very cold-hardy, withstanding temperatures as low as -30°C. However, when exposed to cold winds, it’s important to add some protection around the plant, such as windbreaks. It’s an ideal climbing flower for northern gardeners.
Honeysuckle (Jin Yin Hua)
Honeysuckle, also known as Lonicera, is familiar to those who know herbal medicine. It is effective for treating colds, sore throats, and fever. Its flowers are commonly white, but there are also red, yellow, and multicolored varieties.
Care Tips: Honeysuckle can be trained along a net or trellis, and in about a year, you'll have a wall full of fragrant flowers. It’s very adaptable, with a strong tolerance for both cold and heat, able to endure temperatures as low as -30°C and as high as 35°C. For watering, during summer heat, water frequently and consider misting the leaves and surrounding air to increase humidity. In autumn, watch the watering carefully to avoid dry spells, and in winter, reduce watering.
