As we enter April, the temperature is neither too cold nor too hot, making it a great time for many plant enthusiasts to buy potted plants at the flower market. Typically, spring is when flowers and plants are most lush, so there are more varieties available compared to the colder winter months. So, how do you choose the right flowers for the upcoming summer from such a wide variety?

Jasmine
Jasmine is a fragrant flower that is sure to capture your heart. Although its flowers are not large and are usually white, its unique scent has therapeutic benefits, such as clearing heat, detoxifying, and calming the mind. From the end of April to May is the blooming season for jasmine, and with proper care, it can bloom continuously until the Teacher’s Day in early September, meaning its flowering period can span from spring to autumn.
Spring and Summer Care Tips:
Jasmine plants produce a good amount of flowers, so in spring, it’s recommended to fertilize once or twice a month to establish a strong foundation for future blooming. Also, as it continues to bloom after April, make sure to prune faded flowers in time to encourage new shoots and more blooms.
Bougainvillea
Bougainvillea is one of the standout flowers in street landscapes, originally from Brazil. It thrives in hot weather, making it popular among flower enthusiasts in both the south and the north. Bougainvillea comes in a variety of colors, from red to pinkish green and deep red, and can bloom year-round, providing constant beauty.
Spring and Summer Care Tips:
Bougainvillea is particularly suited for growing in southern regions. It can bloom when temperatures exceed 30°C in the summer, and as long as temperatures don’t fall below 15°C in winter. It’s drought-tolerant, so it doesn't need frequent watering. Be cautious not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. Water the soil only when the surface is dry.
Geranium
Geranium is an excellent plant for the C-position on a balcony, as it can bloom year-round. The flowers resemble small hydrangeas, while the stems are delicate and soft, making it perfect for hanging baskets.
Spring and Summer Care Tips:
Geraniums thrive in temperatures between 15 and 20°C. Although they can bloom continuously in the summer, during the hottest months, it’s important to protect them from the intense heat by placing them in a cool, shaded area with good ventilation. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the leaves to yellow and reduce the plant’s vitality.
